Member Spotlight

Tracy Kawa, founder of Kawa Community Partners, is passionate about entrepreneurship and, as a branding and reinvention specialist, excels at discovering where her clients fit best in business and in life. Tracy has developed an extraordinary assessment tool that is designed to help businesses and individuals understand their professional values, strengths, work style and business fit in order to operate in harmony and at optimum potential. She calls it The Kawa Assessment. Along with this client work, Tracy is also a speaker, author and the host of Tell Us Your Biz, a radio and internet show.

This is Tracy’s second year being involved with NAWBO, first on behalf of her clients and now on her own behalf. She is currently serving on the Board as Secretary. She was instantly attracted to the NAWBO sisterhood - women supporting women in business. She likes how NAWBO embraces differences and gives its members a leg-up to succeed. By keeping members educated in all areas of business, an environment of growth, possibility and potential is fostered and nurtured.  She looks forward to many more years as a NAWBO member.

Over the years, three pieces of valuable business advice have stayed with Tracy. The first is ‘sit front and center and speak up!’  Your words may be exactly what someone needs to hear, so join the conversation. The second is that differentiation is key. There is so much more to branding than meets the eye. An “accountant” doesn’t begin to describe who you are and what you do for your clients.  It’s crucial to set yourself apart and really define the value that you bring to your clients. The third is that you can’t see what is in your blind spot. Sometimes you just have to get out of your own way to learn more about yourself, harness your strengths and take yourself and your business to the next level.

Tracy’s favorite community involvement activity is speaking at events. She loves sharing what she’s learned in the last 25 years so that others can become successful sooner in their careers. If not running a business, Tracy would most likely be personal shopping and organizing closets, as well as writing more books.
